John joined the Blackburn Bowls Club in 1984 and quickly took to the game of bowls.
He was soon considered the best Leader in the club, and then the best Second for two years before he started Skipping where he was always very competitive and successful.

In 1994/5 he was the Second in the winning Men’s Group 12 Fours team.
He twice won the Men’s Group 12 Pairs as Skipper.
In 2003/4 he Skipped the winning Group 12 Men’s Fours team.
In 2005 he won the Veteran Pairs Championship as Skipper.
He was twice Runner Up in the clubs Men’s Championship.

Apart from other tournament entries, for eleven consecutive years John arranged accommodation for his BBC team and entries to the Rich River 5 player tournament. A record acknowledged by that club.

John was always a willing worker for the club, and with wife Pat successfully ran the Ray White Triples for many years.  Always on for a bit of stirring and fun, he will be sadly missed by his many friends and the Club.
